On August 1, Barco Uniforms celebrated its 90th anniversary. The Gardena, California-based health care apparel retailer is widely recognized as the pioneer of the modern medical scrubs industry. One out of every three health care professionals in the U.S. has purchased Barco-branded scrubs.

At its four-day celebration event in Manhattan Beach, supermodel Cheryl Tiegs, who modeled for Barco early in her career in the 1960s, made a surprise guest appearance to help present its first annual “Made to Matter” award, created to honor the world’s most inspiring health care professionals.

Barco retailers from around the country were also in attendance, and participated in sales meetings as well as a fashion show to preview exciting new products. The agency was a featured keynote speaker, where it provided an overview of timeless retail principles that can help future-proof a business. The presentation provided in-depth retail industry insights, and included timely tips on formulating a brand strategy, marketing and social media and influencing the influencer.

The agency has worked with a number of retail brands over the years, and utilized its strong understanding of the market to provide a valuable learning experience for all in attendance. Barco and PPMG will next collaborate on developing a retail webinar series, with plans to launch in Q4 2019.
