Translator-Reviser Feb 10, 2012 Translator-Reviser National Association is actively seeking a mid to senior level Translator-Reviser working within Publications and responsible to performing and coordinating the translation and revision of a variety of English texts into French. In part, the Translator-Reviser works closely with English editors and designers to ensure production of high-quality French documents. Responsibilities: • Translates and/or revises text such as publications, web documents, meeting minutes, correspondence, media releases, etc. as assigned by the Manager of Publications • Compares the French language translations against the final English version of the material to ensure accuracy and ease of reading • Reviews, edits, proofreads and adapts French language documents to ensure accuracy and that the content is grammatically correct and written in an appropriate style for delivery to French language readers in Canada • Conducts terminology research • Maintains the translation and terminology database and ensures consistency • Coordinates workflow with external translators and revisers when required; coordinates translation services for other languages as required • Provides consultation services to staff • Occasional work outside regular business hours Qualifications: • Five years of experience in translation • Fluently bilingual (French and English; exceptional command of French and English grammar and usage • Experience in editing, revision and proofreading French language documents within a production publishing-oriented environment • Experience working with and updating terminology database software • Experience coordinating translation projects • Excellent knowledge of MS Office products and knowledge of LogiTerm • Superior time management and organizational skills • Ability to work independently and as part of a publications team; ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines, including some time outside normal business hours • Previous medical or health care translation experience would be considered an asset • Certification by the Association of Translators and Interpreters of Ontario (ATIO) would be considered an asset Salary: 61-75K plus generous benefit/RSP package For more information please forward resume to cindy@pollackgroup.com THE POLLACK GROUP Cindy Larocque CPC Senior Recruitment Specialist 225 Metcalfe Street, Suite 702 Ottawa, Ontario T: 613-238-2233 ext.231 F: 613-238-4407 cindy@pollackgroup.com We do our very best to acknowledge all applicants and encourage you to follow up on your application.
